Top 5 Silver Pocket Watch Brands

By

The pocket watch has all but died away like scrapbooking kits thanks to the overbearing popularity of the wristwatch and now the cell phone clock. In many ways cellular phones have become our pocket watches since we use them to tell time often more than we do our normal watches.

It is still nice to have an antique silver pocket watch lying around to pull out of your floor safe whenever you feel regal or old fashioned and this article is going to cover the best brands for that new silver tone pocket watch you’ve been thinking about buying.

You can also find some really nice utility pocket watches these days. If you're an outdoors kind of person who doesn't like to wear a wrist watch, you can find a really nice pocket watch that will clip to your belt or backpack and allow you to keep track of the time and sometimes even the direction you're headed.

Waltham Silver Pocket Watch

The Waltham Pocket Watch Company is dated back to August of 1881. They were making pocket watches for years and they made some really high quality stuff. The Waltham were thought only to be manufactured by manual skill but this idea was shattered by a Mr. Robbins who began to mass produce these pocket watches with automated machinery.

The minute and hour wheels of these watches are underneath the dial. They are driven by a system of gearing and the cannon pinion sits snug on the center shaft. Waltham watches made today are wound by turning the crown of the case.

The Charles Huber sterling silver pocket watch is the old classic pocket watch design. These pocket watches range in price from fifty to two hundred dollars and they are high quality pieces. They are often decorated with intricate engravings on the watch face and when you open the watch it is a Charles Hubert staple to show all of the gears as the watch ticks away. These are inexpensive pocket watches but are worth having for day to day use. Plus, they look great with a suit.
